I have a habit of creating NUMEROUS lists on my phone. The lists include birthday present ideas for the kids, Christmas present ideas for a family, baby names (that I just can’t bare to delete).
I also have a list of things I desperately want to buy when I have enough money to buy them.
Right now… it’s full of makeup and skincare.
I follow a lot of amazing bloggers that share some great items and when there is something that I am especially excited about, I screenshot it and save it to a folder on my phone. I’m up to about 20 screenshots, but I’m telling you my top five that I’m desperately wanting!
I recently started following Lindsey Regan Thorne on Instagram (@lindseyreganthorne), thanks to one of my favorites, Cristin Cooper (@cristincooper). Lindsey is a makeup artist and recently did a roundup of some of her favorite products and this YSL Blur Primer was one of them. I love a good primer and here’s the deal with this one – it is $52 (insert big eyes) BUT… it lasts for a loooong time. She showed hers – she bought it in October and hadn’t even used a quarter of it. So in the end, you’re saving money because most good primers are $30-plus and you need a new one every three months.
I LOVED the soft golden glow this primer gave her face as well as just blurred the areas of her face she needed blurred (which is maybe not one part of her face). This is on the top of my list of buys!
Clearly I stalk Cristin Cooper. Or just do whatever she says to do.
So when she said to follow Jordan Harper (@jordanharper_np) because she is the know-all when it comes to skincare, I did it.
And Jordan Harper does know it all. She is a skincare specialist at a plastic surgery practice so she knows her stuff. In this blog post, she talked about the three things you must have in your skincare routine: Vitamin C, SPF and a retinoid. She says that these three are important to get right and are OK to spend the money on because it’s totally worth it. Everything else you can skimp on, but not these three!
Why do we need Vitamin C? Vitamin C is said to prevent/heal skin discoloration, promotes collagen production thus reducing the appearance of fine lines/wrinkles (yes, please), and improves skin texture and brightens the skin.
So the Obagi Professional C Serum is on my list! It is pricey (but not as pricey as others) but this one that I linked is on sale by almost $30 and recommended by Jordan.
I have raved about my SeneGence Candlelight ShadowSense – I love how it blends and how it stays put all day! But the downside to it is that I have to order it and wait for it to get to me.
And I don’t plan ahead.
So I need something that I have easier access to.
And the Tarte Shape Tape concealer is on my list! When this came out last year, EVERY blogger I followed was OBSESSED. I think the ONLY negative thing I heard was that it was pretty thick. And from what I heard, you could basically use it as a foundation.
I don’t need it for a foundation, but I am definitely wanting to test this out, especially for under my eyes! This one actually comes with it’s own personal beauty blender, which is REAL NICE. 🙂
How many of you have tried Shape Tape?! I would love to know your thoughts!
Another Jordan Harper must-have is a retinoid. Retinol, in a nutshell, makes your skin look younger. Or as Jordan says, “more youthful, more vibrant.”
Who doesn’t need some of that?!
Jordan suggests a few options, but I liked the price on this Obagi retinoid the most. Jordan suggests using the Skinceuticals Triple Lipid Restore moisturizer when you start a retinoid as it will speed up the adjustment period.
Look at me, going all Yves Saint Laurent on you!
Again with Lindsey Regan Thorne… but she showed off this YSL Plump-in-Color Plumping lip balm and I loved it! She said, and I agree, that during this time of year, when your skin just feels dry, a heavy lipstick is not what feels good on the lips. Something like this, that goes on smooth and almost lip-balm like with a great color, is perfect for the winter time!
Bonus is that it’s also a lip plumper. Score!
So there’s my top five wish list, friends. Do you guys keep a running list on your phone of must-have items like this? If so, please share! I’d love to add to my list! 🙂
