If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen some of my InstaStories that have the Faster Way to Fat Loss tagged. No, I did not make up that hashtag by myself. And no, I’m not just posting pictures of myself sweating and of what I’m eating because I have a slight chemical imbalance (though I probably do and that would explain a lot)!
Faster Way to Fat Loss is a seven-week program I started at the end of May that is teaching me how to eat healthier while incorporating selected workouts for 5-of-7 days of the week.
I’m basically training myself to:
- Burn fat instead of carbs (yes, I get to eat carbs!)
- Learn the most effective eating schedule (we intermittent fast, which means we eat for eight hours in the day and fast or 16… sounds daunting but it’s truly not)
- Track healthy macros (I don’t pay attention to calories as much has I do carbohydrates, fats and proteins).
In a nutshell, I’m learning how to fuel my body at the right time to burn fat.
How did I hear about this program? Well… if you do not follow Beth at Seersucker & Saddles, you need to immediately! Besides being hysterical, real and has great style, she has done this program for a few years now and her results are AMAZING. I’m tagging her post right here, so please read it to see her pictures.
Why did I want to do this program? If it weren’t for Beth, I would definitely have never known about this program or even thought about doing it! Tess and I go to the gym three times a week and I felt like I was working really hard when I was there, but getting nowhere. I just want to be toned up and not have a bulging mid-section – is that too much to ask for?! 🙂
Once I finally decided to take the plunge, I realized that HOLY COW, I was note working hard AT ALL at the gym. Almost every workout from FWTFL leaves me sweating (which is the best thing) and after my very first workout, I could BARELY walk for three days!
My sister and I had done BBG by Kayla for a few months and though I do think those are legit workouts, it was leaving out the other part for me, which was the food. I wouldn’t consider myself an awful eater, but I definitely wasn’t eating the best foods for me. And every once in awhile, I would just grab a cheeseburger at McDonald’s as I was getting my daily Coke.
But I don’t do that anymore. This has all just made me think about the “big picture” … and if I want to feel leaner and if I don’t want that bulging mid-section, then I have to be more disciplined. So I’ve cut out daily Cokes (let’s be honest, I still get them but not daily and usually only on the weekends). And I’ve stopped just buying food like a cheeseburger just because.
Can you still eat? Ummm. Yes. In fact, I feel like I eat all the time. We do intermittent fast (16 hours fasting/eight hours eating) so I usually stop eating around 8 pm, and then don’t eat again until Noon and for me, it’s OK! I’m not a huge breakfast person and since I get to the gym in the morning, I can usually power through. It might sound daunting, but I promise, it is not!
Do I only eat healthy all the time? Ummm. Do you all know me?! 🙂 I have definitely been eating healthier. But it is all stuff that I like. I will saute mushrooms, grape tomatoes, skirt steak. Add a little bit of spinach, yogurt ranch dressing with some slivered almonds and chia seeds and boom. There’s a meal! There are a few days of the week that we do low-carb, which means we eat less than 50 grams of carbs that day. Again, it’s not as hard as it sounds!
Our workouts intertwine with our eating schedule to help burn fat faster and though I can’t fully explain to you what the heck is going on, I can tell you that I know it is working. I feel so much healthier than I did before I started. I am feeling more lean and stronger. And my mid-section is slowly, but surely less bulgy than it was four weeks ago. And I still have two more weeks to go!
This post is not giving justice to this program, that I know! But if you want to know more about it, please feel free to message me! I think the important things to take away from this is that you don’t give up eating, you get fantastic workouts, you get accountability partners (through a Facebook group that you join), and you just get to feel better. Anyone can do this program! You do not have to belong to a gym (they give you beginner, at-home and gym workout options!), you can still drink your wine or your beer (#priorities), you can do this while traveling. You can do it!
My goal is to do one more round of this to finish out the summer. I honestly will be most sad to not have these amazing workouts to do when I’ve wrapped up my time! But I feel like after my second round, I will fully understand how to fuel my body correctly to burn fat!
And maybe when I’m finished, I will feel brave enough to post before/after photos. Insert large eyes! 😉
